A little bit of thrashing around here.
Dischord Records founder Ian MacKaye was in Pailhead, Fugazi, and Minor Threat. A passionate visionary.
"Pay To Cum," "World Up My Ass," and "Holiday in Cambodia" were all on the same punk sampler that was my gateway to that world. Within the genre, these tracks stand out.
Saw From Ashes Rise at some basement or record store show over a decade ago and they blew me away. I think they've got an edge -- a point of view -- that sets them apart.
ATR in Chicago was probably the best concert I've ever been to. Completely overwhelming and disorienting. Catharsis ftw. Ec8or, Shizuo, and other DHR acts get overshadowed, but they deliver, as well.
